Shillong, Sep 30: Employees of the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) yesterday felicitated Phrangki Buam who will soon be joining Football Club Goa.
The MeECL employees are football enthusiasts who have banded together under the MeECL Friends United (MFU).
Speaking during a short meeting convened at Shillong today in keeping with COVID-19 protocols, the captain of MFU, Banrap Narry praised Buam for his hard work and dedication which have opened doors of opportunity before him. “He has brought great laurels to the state,” Narry said.
It may be noted here that Buam hails from Thangbuli village which falls under Amlarem Sub-Division in West Jaintia Hills District.
Buam had earlier been selected to undergo training under the Sports Authority of India and was playing for local football teams such as Royal Wahingdoh FC and Shillong Lajong FC.
He will now be playing under Spanish Coach Juan Ferrando who is in charge of Goa FC. Interestingly, prior to his appointment at the helm of affairs of Goa FC, Ferrando was coaching the Barcelona youth team, Barcelona B and has also worked with football superstars such as Robin Van Persie, Cesc Fabregas and others.
“We believe that the induction in Goa FC will result in his development as a sportsperson and it is without doubt that he will one day even represent the country,” members of the MFU said today.
Buam will be leaving Meghalaya today before joining Goa FC.
