CoRP leaders picked up by police

Nongpoh, July 17: Three leaders of the Confederation of Ri Bhoi People (CoRP) have been picked up by police on Friday on charges of inciting a brawl.

The altercation happened in two petrol pumps located at Bhoirymbong area in Ri Bhoi District.

According to police, the CoRP leaders including president Bandari Ryntathiang, Finance Secretary Shining Kyntla and one Johnfest Lakhiat went to two petrol pumps on Friday evening – Um Kru Kru Service Station at Umdohbyrthih and Nongpluh Service Station at Lumdaitkhla where they demanded fuel and later created nuisance and got involved in a brawl with the staff of these petrol pumps.

Accordingly, the staff members of these petrol pumps informed the local Dorbar Shnong representative who after reaching the respective pumps informed the police who rushed to the spot and picked the three leaders of the organization and sent them for medical check-up.

The next day, the representative of Lumdaitkhla along with the petrol pump owner of Nongtluh Service Station filed the FIR at Khapmara PIC after which the three CoRP leaders were picked up by police.

However, a compromise was reached between CoRP leaders led by Vice President Karbius Lyngdoh, the representatives of the local dorbar shnong and the owner of these petrol pumps and the matter was settled amicably. While the members of Umdohbyrthih village and the petrol owner have agreed to the compromise, the representatives of Lumdaitkhla and owner of Nongpluh Service Station have filed the FIR at Khapmara PIC.
