Nongpoh, June 16: The Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi district, R M Kurbah has noted with concern that there have been reports of Covid-19 patients refusing to cooperate with health officials and are rather hiding the names of people they have come into contact with.
“Though the district administration along with the health department has been working tirelessly to contain or to eliminate Covid-19, the administration has been receiving information that some Covid-19 patients do not cooperate with the medical teams in revealing their contacts especially the high risk contacts. It is feared that this will lead to further spread of the pandemic,” Kurbah said today.
Stating that this has occurred in many parts of the district, Kurbah also said that there are instances where these Covid-19 patients are violating containment protocols and are roaming around regardless of the danger that they pose to others.
Stressing the importance of sharing this vital information with health officials, Kurbah said that this will help these officials to break the transmission chain of the virus.
“I request all high risk contacts to come forward for testing because each Covid-19 positive person can infect at least 30 other people,” Kurbah said.
