Mairang gets fire training school

Shillong, Feb 2:
Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh today inaugurated the Fire and Emergency Service Training School at Mairang in West Khasi Hills. Home minister Lahkmen Rymbui and DGP R Chandranathan were also present at the event.

The campus and the infrastructure used for setting up the training school belonged to the General Administrative department and the Office of the Executive Engineer PWD (Roads) Mairang.

It will conduct elementary fire fighting training as well as cadre courses for the new recruits and in-service officials of the organisation. All technical trainings will be imparted in this school.
The programme began with the welcome address of Chandranathan, followed by medal presentations to officials who were awarded with Governor’s Medal.

There was demonstration of techniques adopted by F&ES Organisation in their endeavour to mitigate disasters.

Rymbui congratulated the department for the training school. Lyngdoh spoke
about the requirement of setting up the school.
