Night curfew extended; March 28 exempted

Shillong, March 26: The East Khasi Hills administration has extended the ongoing night curfew in the district from March 27 to April 2. It will be effective from 12 am to 5 am every day.

The order said the night curfew will be lifted on March 28 on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat celebration.

The curfew order will not apply to medical teams and officials on Covid-19 duty, police, security and armed forces, civil defence and home guard volunteers, wholesale and retail pharmacies, fire and emergency service, MeECL, NEEPCO and Power Grid, and other essential services.

These services have to comply with all protocols and procedures, including social distancing.

Movement of vehicles carrying essential goods, security forces, medical equipment and shops for repair of trucks on highways are also exempted. However, drivers and attendants of vehicles have to undergo medical screening.
