Nongpoh, April 21: The Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi district, Rosetta Kurbah has expressed deep concern over the sudden spurt of positive Covid-19 cases in the district which has now reached 83.
Addressing the media after a review meeting on the Covid-19 situation in the district today, Kurbah said that it is very unfortunate that the district has registered a quick spurt of positive Covid-19 cases within a short span of time even though the district had no cases till February 2021.
She also said that, during the meeting, a plan to contain the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in the district was discussed which will be implemented. At the same time, the district administration has once again urged all village authorities to activate their respective Community Covid-19 Management Committees to contain the disease.
Kurbah also informed that further restrictions will be put in place at the Covid-19 Check Point which will also restrict the movement of the local people or the citizens of the state, especially returnees. “They will have to download and get registered on the Covid-19 Apps and inform about their movement and if they fail to do so, they will have to do the test at the checkpoint,” she said.
Returnees from Delhi, Maharashtra, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh will have to undergo a RTCPR test before entering the state and will also have to undergo a 10-day quarantine period. Kurbah also urged all the residents of the district to adhere to all the protocols and SOPs laid down by the state government and health department so as to contain the spread of the Covid-19.
