‘Rock garden’ in Jashiar village

Shillong, July 29: Mawkyrwat MLA, Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar has proposed the development of a ‘rock garden’ at Jashiar village in South West Khasi Hills district.
“Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma has assured to develop the rock garden,” Tongkhar who is also a Cabinet Minister, informed today.
It may be noted here that Tongkhar had accompanied Sangma during his visit to the district yesterday.
Tongkhar told reporters that the Chief Minister had appreciated the spirit of working together among the three Village Employment Councils (VECs) for jointly having constructed a footbridge over Wah Rilang.
He said the VECs had requested the Chief Minister to sanction funds for tree plantation and also for the development of the rock garden.
“The Chief Minister as a mark of giving recognition to them assured to sanction schemes for the purpose,” the Minister said.
Tongkhar informed that around Rs 50 lakh would be required for the development of the rock garden.
He said the Chief Minister had also assured to send experts from the tourism department to accordingly prepare the estimates for the project.
